He’s randomly aggressively licking himself like these videos show. I’ve checked him for fleas and bugs but I’m not seeing anything on him or in his ears. He is eating and drinking as well as using the litter box.
It sounds like your cat is experiencing some discomfort, which could be causing the aggressive licking behavior. Given that he's also vomiting and itching, there are a few potential causes to consider.
One possibility is that your cat might have an underlying skin condition such as allergies or dermatitis. Allergies can be triggered by various factors, including food, environmental allergens like pollen, or even flea bites. Even if you haven't seen fleas, it's still possible that a single bite could cause a reaction.
Another potential cause could be a gastrointestinal issue, especially since he's also vomiting. Sometimes, cats will lick excessively when they feel nauseous or have an upset stomach.
For home care, you can try the following:
1. Ensure your cat is on a high-quality diet and consider switching to a hypoallergenic food to see if it helps reduce the symptoms.
2. Keep your home environment clean and free from potential allergens. Regularly vacuum and dust to minimize exposure to dust mites and other allergens.
3. Provide fresh, clean water at all times to keep your cat hydrated, which can help with both skin and gastrointestinal health.
4. Monitor your cat closely for any changes in behavior, appetite, or litter box habits.
Given the combination of symptoms and the fact that this has been ongoing for a couple of days, it would be best to have your cat evaluated by a veterinarian. They can perform a thorough examination and possibly run some tests to determine the underlying cause and provide appropriate treatment. It's important to address these symptoms promptly to ensure your cat's comfort and well-being.
