My dog may have eaten a wrapper. I had a circle k candy bar and I left the wrapper for 2 seconds and then realized it was gone. I realized at 11am yesterday. I’m worried because it was a decent size and I haven’t found any of it around the house at all. He could have hidden it but I have yet to find any of it. Here’s a picture of the candy bar but he didn’t eat the outside cover (there’s an outside cover then a shiny wrapper inside) he ate the wrapper part which I tried to circle it’s just hard to see in the picture. The consistency of the wrapper is like a Klondike bar wrapper or a Wendy’s burger wrapper. Shiny on the outside but paper like on the inside. Only the wrapper as I ate all the candy. He most likely would have chewed it into pieces before swallowing (he tends to chew toilet paper into small pieces before I realize and grab it) and there’s no way he swallowed that big of a wrapper whole. Now I’m worried about a potential blockage. I try my hardest to watch him 24/7 it’s just tough sometimes. I’ll definitely get better about leaving things lay around. How long would a blockage take to show up.
I understand your concern about your dog potentially ingesting a wrapper, as it could lead to an intestinal blockage. It's important to be aware of symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, abdominal pain, and changes in bowel movements, which can manifest within 24 to 48 hours after ingestion.
Given that it's been a day since the incident, I recommend keeping a close eye on your dog for any of these symptoms. If you notice any signs of distress, such as vomiting or other concerning symptoms, it's crucial to seek veterinary care immediately. A veterinarian can conduct an examination and possibly use imaging to determine if a blockage is present.
In the meantime, make sure your dog has access to plenty of water and keep track of their eating and bathroom habits. To prevent similar incidents in the future, try to keep such items out of your dog's reach.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.

Do wrappers usually pass?
If your dog happens to ingest a wrapper, it might pass through their digestive system, particularly if it's small and your dog chews it into pieces. However, the outcome can vary depending on the size and material of the wrapper. Thicker wrappers or those with sharp edges could potentially cause an obstruction.
If he is behaving normally, eating, and drinking without any issues, the wrapper may pass naturally. However, if you observe symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy, or changes in bowel movements, it's crucial to take him to a vet as soon as possible.
